SINCE 1802


The story of the Amonn family enterprise started in 1802 when they opened a shop selling colonial products.
For over two centuries, seven generations have been running the firm with farsightedness, increasing its size and importance and gradually expanding to new sectors.
1627 - The name ‘Amonn' (originally Aman) appears for the first time in the records of the municipality of Bolzano.
1754 - Johann Michael Amonn, born on 29 September 1734 in Vills in Reutte (Tyrol), came to Bolzano at the age of twenty and bought the ‘Luna' hotel in 1759.
1760 - Johann Jakob Amonn was born in Bolzano.
1798 - Johann Jakob Amonn became a citizen of Bolzano.
1801 - Johann Jakob Amonn bought the ‘Al Leone Bianco' hotel in Piazza S. Trinità (now Piazza Municipio) from Franz Sailer and completely remodelled it.
1836 - Johann Jakob Amonn opened a shop selling colonial products in Piazza S. Trinità (now Piazza Municipio) and thus founded the Amonn firm.
1836 - Johann Carl Amonn (son of Johann Jakob) took over from his father at the helm of the firm.
1849 - Management of the firm was taken on by Johann Filibert Amonn (son of Johann Carl) who changed the name to ‘J.F. Amonn'.
1886 - The shop was divided into colonial products and paper and stationery sections.
1891 - Emil Amonn (son of Johann Filibert) took over the running of the firm.
1898 - The postcards section started with extension of the first floor of the building; bought from the ‘Riegl & C.' printing works, which was incorporated into the firm.
1909 - Emil Amonn bought the ‘Plattnerhof' in Gries, which became the family residence.
1913 - Erich and Walter Amonn took the reins of the firm. The same year the architect Marius Amonn was appointed by the Municipality to remodel Piazza del Municipio and the registered office was restored.
1921 - Purchase of the Weigl bookbinder’s business and opening of a retail trade in colours.
1931 - Building of a new chemical plant.
1943 - Transfer of business to Merano, Terlano and Appiano due to the war.
1944 - The registered office was destroyed by bombing.
1946 - Rebuilding of the registered office.
1952 - J.F. Amonn (limited company) increased its capital to one hundred million  liras and celebrated the 150th anniversary of its foundation.
1961 - Entry into the DESPAR Italia food chain.
1962 - Ander Amonn developed the retail sales chain.
1965 - Separation of the branches of business.
1969 - Merger of J.F. Amonn Spa with SELL limited partnership.
1971 - Establishment of Satib for producing Coca Cola in Italy.
1985 - Sale of Amonn Fitochimica Spa.
1986 - Purchase of the Lutz firm (colours and paints) in Korneuburg in Vienna, now Amonn Coatings s.r.l.
1989 - Establishment of J.F. Amonn Holding s.r.l. with shares in all the Amonn companies.
1991 - Sale of the Despar food chain.
1992 - Purchase of the Cesarini Sforza sparkling wines business.
1994 - Purchase of the Italvis firm (flameproof and intumescent paints) and the Protect (flameproof and intumescent paints) firm. The two companies later merged into the Italvis Protect s.r.l. company with headquarters in Milan.
1995 - Sale of Satib Coca Cola.
1996 - Purchase of Stufex Spa. Establishment of Grafus s.r.l. together with Athesia for distributing paper and stationery.
1998 - Merger of Amonn Color with COSMA & ZETAL and incorporation of Amonn Cosma Spa, now AMONN COLOR Srl, into Amonn Holding, which took over the sale of protective paints for wood.
2001 - Sale of the Cesarini Sforza sparkling wine business.
2002 - Arno Amonn took over the management.
2007 - Incorporation of Amonn L’Aquatec – Bangkok.
2008 - Merger of Italvis Protect and Stufex, specialists in the fire protection sector, and establishment of Amonn Fire.
2013 - Integration of the firms Amonn TecnoIn, Amonn Hotel, Amonn Color, Amonn Fire in J.F. Amonn Spa with registered office in Bolzano.
